About

My name is Sayre Christian O'Cull. I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Kentucky, focusing on the nineteenth-century American South. My research looks at the role of the courts in Reconstruction and why Southern individuals and states turned to the judiciary in their fight against Reconstruction policies.

I earned my master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. My master's project examined the Know Nothing movement in Cincinnati, OH, and Louisville, KY.
